The Translational Horizons of Iranian Modernism: Ahmad Shamlu’s Canon of the Global South

This article explores how the Iranian poet and translator Ahmad Shamlu (1925–2000) reconceives configuration of world poetics. Working at intersection global modernism translation studies, it traces formation a Persian modernist poetics solidarity on basis translations from so-called third-world literatures Shamlu’s political aesthetic traverses national borders to embrace ignored marginalized poetic traditions. Rather than relying French other European modernisms reinvigorate his literature, made available contemporaries broad panorama literature that brought together Global Southern literatures, poetics, transnational commitments. In tracing literary forms shaped by solidarity, this develops post-Eurocentric framework for study modernism.
